Barbed and woven wire fences almost immediately begin to sag and wear from animal pressure — the "back scratcher" effect. Electrified high-tensile fences shock the animal on contact, keeping it off the fence entirely, so the fence is not subjected to constant physical pressure. A well-built electric fence stays taut and straight for decades.

High-tensile wire is smooth 12-1/2 gauge steel that doesn't snag or cut when handled, and simple tools like a de-reeler (spinning jenny) make installation far quicker. Choose electrified high-tensile for permanent perimeters, cross-fences and boundary lines where the fence will stay put for years.
